Horses For Sale

We train a few horses each year as we take our clients on rides. Also, we retire a few of our dude string before they get too old to make sure they have a good later life and many productive years for their new owners. For more information about horses listed here, horses currently in training, or to set up an appointment to meet the horses, call (719)850-8931.

Meet the Horses!

Nevisca – 2016 – Appaloosa – Gelding – 14 hands

Navisca is a darling! A sweet, lazy, gluttonous, darling. He is so laid back you might even call him

dopey. But you would only do so with the most charmed feeling. He just doesn’t want to displease anyone and he has learned that if you just do everything super carefully then everyone is happy with you. But if he trusts his rider he can get out of granny gear to go do things. He has a nice rocking horse lope and can climb mountains like a champ. You never have to worry about catching him because if you are outside he probably already has his nose between your shoulders looking for handouts. He is easy to shoe and will jump right in our trailer. This horse is as gentle as most horses are at 20 and he still has his whole life to live. Buy this horse for your child and you won’t need to get another until your child enters college!

Sadie – AQHA – 2019 – Sorrel – Mare – 14.2 Hands

Sadie, Sadie~ This little girl is a mover! She’s got the coordination. She is the kind of horse you sit on (CLICK TO READ MORE)

and when she turns, you just sit there for a moment in surprise wondering what just happened. She could easily be finished out for cutting horse competitions, barrel racing or a team penner’s dream. And don’t ignore her pedigree! Whew! Smokin’! Rack up some points on her and then get some babies out of her. This is a horse you won’t ever regret owning, she can do it all.

Sadie is a registered American Quarter Horse. She is a big lover and an all around pest she just wants MORE. More pets, more brushing, more attention, more scratches and don’t forget more treats! She saddles easily, loads and holds her feet well.

Midnight – AQHA – 2021 – Blue Roan – Filly

Want a horse your friends will constantly be trying to buy? Midnight is the answer. To who ever takes (CLICK TO READ MORE)

this horse home she will probably be the best horse you’ve ever owned. She is shaping up to be one of those horses that will live her entire life on one property. Now in her youth she will win ribbons for you. a few years from now when you could care less for a ribbon and just want to ride safely, she will take care of you. And when her coat fades to white she will babysit your grand kids. This little lady is ready for her forever home.

She catches easily, ties easily, tacks up easily, loads easily and most importantly rides easily. She is a loving little girl with a soft mouth and will to please. If you are in the market for a finished young horse that you can take just about any direction… look no further.

Pollyanna – AQHA – 2020 – Bay – Mare – 15 hands

Polly is a stick of dynamite clothed in velvet. She is so very quiet and so very gentle and has such polite (CLICK TO READ MORE)

little manners. But don’t be fooled, underneath that demure exterior is one powerful hunk of horseflesh. She is the kind of horse the AQHA got famous for. She can turn on a dime and give you nine cents change. And she might not be able to catch a cheetah, but I wouldn’t put money on it. This horse is going places and she’d be quite willing to take you with her.

Yuma – AQHA – 2019 – Dun – Gelding – 15

Yuma is one of those horses that grows on you. At first you are like “yeah he’s nice.” then after a while (CLICK TO READ MORE)

you are like “You know, I really like that horse”. The after a while you are “Yuma! MY BAABY!”

He is going to be a big tall fellow, with a ground covering walk and a rocking horse canter. I mean the canter is to die for nice!!! He covers ground without trying. He is a sensitive boy that is anxious to please, to see his good side you have to show him a little love and let him get used to you. He is super willing, though cautious in new areas with new things. When confronted with new obstacles if you just give him a little time and verbal encouragement he will work his way right through it. When this horse fills out he is going to be the envy of everyone who sees him.

Anyone that knows how to confidently ride at a walk, trot and canter can handle Yuma. Because he is such a pleaser he needs someone to guide him. If you are a very timid rider that wants the horse to do all your thinking, Yuma will just follow the other horses and do whatever everyone else is doing. That said, if I have another 6 months with him he will pack your five year old and all the extra gear up to the top of the mountain, put up your tent, start the coffee and take himself out to graze while you swing in the hammock. But I shouldn’t tell you that because honestly I don’t give a flip whether we sell him or not! (Don’t tell RV I said that when you talk to him. He never reads the website so he wont know) So forget everything I just said. Yuma is the MOST terrible horse!

Cowgirl – AQHA – 2020 – Bay – Mare – 15.2 Hands

Cowgirl is beautiful. That’s the simple, God’s honest truth. She’s just beautiful. She is the Marilyn
(CLICK TO READ MORE)

Monroe of the horse world and has all the right curves in all the right places : ) Cowgirl also has an attitude a lot like Marilyn, that demure innocent girl appearance but she is just a bit mischievous if you aren’t watching.  Even though cowgirl is young and still growing she is huge! This horse would make a great candidate for roping or for those of us that like to feel like we have a HORSE under us.

Cowgirl is still young but her training is coming along real nice. At this time she can be ridden by anyone that knows how to confidently ride at a walk, trot and canter and give clear queues. Cowgirl obeys directions willingly but doesn’t know how to make a novice rider look like they know what they are doing. This is just a lack of experience on her part, it’s not that she has a temperament to take advantage of anyone. Because she has such a sweet disposition we would be happy to finish her out to meet your expectations.

Candy – AQHA – 2020 – Bay Roan – Mare – 15 Hands

Candy is a darling. She is kind, sweet and soft, anxious to please. She is AQHA registered and goes back (CLICK TO READ MORE)

to High Brow Cat on the top side. She moves fluidly and has beautiful canter. She is very light and quick on her feet and would make a great performance horse for many disciplines. I could see her doing well in reining or trail horse competitions.

Candy is not as high on the pecking order as some of the other horses. This is actually a blessing in many ways, this means she is more easygoing and willing to do as she is told, without a lot of argument. It also makes her love people more because people have snacks and don’t pick on her!  Candy is easy to handle and does well with her feet, she shoes easily. She loads in trailers well, ties well and is just a pleasure to be around.

Big Jim – AQHA – 2019 – Sorrel – Gelding – 15 Hands

Big Jim is what every gelding is expected to be, laid back, quiet and a powerhouse. He doesn’t get (CLICK TO READ MORE)

upset about anything; he is as easy going as he is easy on the eyes. He’s got such a good head on him he could be finished out to so many professions. He’s been used for some breakaway roping. And of course he leads well, saddles easily, ties and loads in trailers like a champ. This is a gelding to watch – he is going to be a star player on someone’s team and with a glance at his pedigree, its easy to see why!

Dakota – AQHA – 2020 – Buckskin – Mare – 14.2

Dakota is a little darling! She will walk if you tell her to, and gallop if she has to, but she would much (CLICK TO READ MORE)

prefer to just hang out with you. This horse does have energy however (don’t let her fool you), you just have to find what interests her to get her going! No trail is too far, no mountain too high. She is sure footed and navigates obstacles with ease. Dakota has worked on the ranch with her trainer (and her trainer’s dog) rounding up horses and goats. (A thank-less job!) Dakota has also been incorporated to our dude string which has given her a lot of experience with different riders. This horse is going to be perfect for anybody ready to take her whatever direction they want to go in the horse world! Ranching, trail rides, you name it!

Sarsaparilla – 2016 – Bay – Mare – 14 Hands

Sarsaparilla! For those of you who do not know Sarsaparilla is an old cowboy soda drink, it’s kind of (CLICK TO READ MORE)

sweet, kind of tangy, and has some bubble that tickles your nose. Sarsy (as we fondly call her) is a lot like the ol’ soda pop. She is of mustang origins and hasn’t got an ounce of quit in her. She went on a 30 mile long ride carrying a grown man and all his camping gear and she hardly broke a sweat! But really, she would prefer to plod around the ranch like a lazy old nag. She is very gentle and suitable for riders of many experience levels. She is shaping up to be a real darling babysitter.

Sarsy had a foal in 2022! She was bred to our buckskin stallion and had a beautiful bay colt. For more information on Sarsaparilla, give us a call!

Jeri – 2015 – Black – Mare – 14.2 Hands

Jeri is a real sweet mare that pretends to have attitude but she is actually a big softy. She tries to get (CLICK TO READ MORE)

her bluff in on the other horses but even they don’t take her seriously. Due to an old injury, she has a shorter stride on one leg when trotting. But that doesn’t slow her down much, she loves to go out and run with the other horses. Jeri looks forward to being saddled up for some lolly-gaging around the ranch (and all the treats that come with that!) She is a great horse for anyone that just wants to enjoy some quiet riding. Perfect for the grandparents and grandchildren alike. She is the extra horse we all need for that friend that doesn’t really know how to ride but always invites themselves along.

Jeri was bred in 2022 and had a handsome bay colt. The father is a registered buckskin Quarter Horse. He’s quite the little pest! He absolutely loves people – people have treats! Ask us for more information on Jeri and her colt, “Ringo”!!

Muskrat – 2016 – Bay – Mare – 14.2 Hands

Muskrat, I know the name just isn’t right. But there is a story to it! We rescued her when she was only a (Click to read more)

few weeks old. She had been sold to the killers and hadn’t had mamma’s milk in days and days. She looked awful and we just couldn’t leave her. After we got her she succumbed to a lung infection and we were afraid she would die. But by God’s grace and with a lot of nursing she has now grown into a pretty snazzy looking lady. I shouldn’t call her a lady though, she has attitude! She must be partly Arabian and has that baby doll face and nice smooth gates. Her long lovely legs stride across the ground like a dancer, graceful and sure. She is easy to catch, groom, saddle and bridle. She loves people.

Muskrats training was going along very nicely when another horse in our herd kicked her in the shoulder. Since this injury she has been having some R&R. Our vet was not able to tell if it is a permanent injury or if she will heal 100%. For this reason we decided to breed her so she can have a back up job of Mother. I am actually quite excited about her foal. (Foal born in 2024! Call us for more information about Muskrat and her baby!) She is a good sized mare with a beautiful face (these pictures do not do her justice) bred to our quarter horse stallion…Whew! What a baby! An endurance rider’s dream!

Rivers – AQHA – 2021 – Brown Roan – Filly

Rivers is a flashy little number that in about 2 years is going to make everyone drool. This horse has (CLICK TO READ MORE)

such great conformation and color, she just about doesn’t need to have a good temperament, but she does. 🙂 She is a sweet little kid that just wants to please. She is being ridden now and has showed no signs of wanting to be ornery. She’s even picking up the neck reining bit by bit. And did I mention that she is a lover pest! When she is turned loose to roam, she just wants to spend all her time begging.

Two Socks – AQHA – 2021 – Sorrel – Filly

Two Socks is a spunky yet darling little girl. I say little, but actually she is going to be a big girl when she (CLICK TO READ MORE)

grows up! Penny just adores her people and every morning she follows my dad, without a halter or lead rope, out to do her training session. Or follows him in the house to have coffee, it doesn’t matter to her – she likes to hang out in the house and have some snacks too. (I’m not joking.) She is actually pretty sure that she would like to live indoors because she has noticed that people live in slightly better accommodations and she is very sure that she is better than the other horses outside! In addition to being a little pest, she is also doing very well in her training, with each new task we throw at her she never freaks out or gets upset. Instead, she tries to think things out and understand what is expected of her. Everybody on the ranch is quite fond of this horse!

SunDance – AQHA – Stallion – 2021 – Chocolate Palomino

SunDance is one of the newest additions to our herd. He is saddle broke, loads in trailers well and is (CLICK TO READ MORE)

going to be mouthwateringly beautiful. As I’m sure you know, chocolate palominos are hard to find. Especially when they have the conformation to go with it!

Mountain Training Trip

Cowgirl, Dakota, Pollyanna, and Dixie

The Young Ones

Yes, these are little babies. But they are getting to be quite the educated babies! We like to start our horses really young so that, (in the words of my dear father), “They don’t know what it is to be broke!” In other words…we start them out so slow and gentle that they will never remember a time they were untrained. The beauty of this is that they take it for granted that people are supposed to handle them and be on their back. They don’t resent having to work because they simply do not understand it is work, they just think it’s how life is supposed to be.

Now that said, we are quite aware that these little fellas are still growing and their bones are very soft. They are never taken on long rides or expected to carry the weight that we would expect a three or four year old to. But in short, fun little sessions, they are taught all the fundamentals: not to be afraid of things, to tie well, allow their feet to be handled, have their tail combed, load in trailers, how to walk trot and lope without silliness, one handed neck rein, and to absolutely adore people!

Scout – Gelding – 2022 – Sorrel

Meet Scout, the fat and sassy mascot for the Robertson family. He sure brightens our day when we (CLICK TO READ MORE)

bring him his feed and he lets out a big cheer of approval!

Scout should have his own social media page. (If we had a little more time for such stuff.) He was a rescued orphan that we nursed back to health and bottle fed him all hours of the day and night. And how did he thank us? By not going out with the other horses, wanting to go in the house and bite us like we are his mother or something! I mean golly! But that’s all behind us now and he’s turned into quite the young gentlemen of horses. Older than his time if you ask me. Scout’s training is coming along exceptionally well. We say, “do this,” and he does it. We say, “do that” and he’s ready. We tell him to walk around in circles in an arena carrying a 160 pound man and he says, “Is that all you got?”

Sterling – Gelding – 2023 – Gray Paint

Introducing Sterling, our upcoming heart throb in the herd! He’s got the looks, he’s got the personality, and he’s got the brains! A triple threat.

Ringo

Foal of Gabe & Jeri, 2022

Leads well, saddles great, ties good, holds feet. Ringo is currently being trained for riding.

Gelding

Chico

Foal of Gabe & Sarsaparilla, 2022

Chico has been adopted by a member of the family for a personal horse and is being trained here at the ranch. He is growing into a fine riding horse – he has learned so much in a short amount of time!
